Why should I do a boudoir photo shoot?
How often do you have the opportunity to release your inner bombshell… the vixen that is just dying to shimmy out of those yoga pants and into something slinky, sexy and luxurious? A boudoir shoot is a chance to unleash a part of yourself that so often remains hidden and to celebrate yourself and the body that you live in right this minute! You don’t need a special occasion to book a sexy photo shoot and while it makes a fantastic gift for a partner, it is ideally a gift to yourself! You deserve to look, feel and be treated like a supermodel! You are beautiful… let us show you!
What makes the Lost Highway experience different?
Our all-female team is dedicated to making you gorgeous and our priority is making you feel like a star for a day! We want our girls to love their experience with us just as much as they enjoy their photos, if not more! We don’t have clients, we have friends and we’ve been blessed to meet so many wonderful, brilliant women because of what we do! As women, we offer a supportive, compassionate, safe environment where you can let your hair down and be yourself. You can feel safe knowing that we also know what it is like to have “trouble spots” and how it feels to see stretch marks, blemishes or a few extra pounds staring back at us in the mirror. Our only focus is making you feel amazing and we take it very seriously! You’ll leave our session feeling empowered, confident, energized and GORGEOUS!
But I’m a real woman… not a model. I don’t know how to pose and I always hate pictures of myself? Can I look sexy?
YES! A million times yes! The women you see in our galleries are not supermodels! Most of them walked through our doors saying exactly the same thing… but I don’t know HOW to be sexy! You don’t have to! You don’t need to be 6 feet tall or have flawless skin or rock hard abs. We don’t expect that our clients will know how to pose or move or look sexy. Part of your experience with us is that we walk you through all of those things. Beth was a professional model before she ever picked up a camera. This puts her in the unique position of having “insider knowledge” on how to coach you through your shoot because not only does she know what looks best she also knows what it feels like to be in your shoes! She often tells clients about her first professional photo shoot when the photographer told her to go ahead and hit her first pose… at which point she stood there, wide-eyed and TOTALLY lost! It is because of that experience that she walks her clients through every aspect of their shoot… from poses (right down to your hands and fingers) and expressions. Your shoot should be empowering, confidence-boosting and, most of all, FUN! You can have fun AND look sexy at the same time!
But I’m SO nervous! Is that normal?
Again, absolutely! It is totally normal to feel nervous! It’s probably fair to assume that you don’t wear lingerie in front of strangers every day, right? (And if you do, good for you!) Every single woman walks in feeling nervous and excited and unsure of what to expect! But that is a good thing! When you arrive we will go through your outfits, decide what sets you’d like to shoot on, talk about hair and makeup with your stylist and then indulge in lots of girl talk while you are getting all dolled up! By the time you are getting dressed for your first set you’ll already feel like we’ve known each other forever and you’ll be so busy working hard during all your posing that you’ll forget all about being nervous!
I think a drink or two will calm my nerves. Can I drink before my photo shoot?
We have no problem with our ladies bringing a bottle of wine to their shoot but, for legal reasons, we do not provide alcohol. We do ask that you limit yourself to one glass of wine during your hair and makeup styling. More than a glass can lead to lazy, tired eyes and can make you feel sluggish. Also, because there are states of undress involved, we want you to have a clear mind and conscious decision-making skills. If you do choose to bring wine please only bring white or blush, as red will stain your teeth.
Do I have to get naked?
Absolutely not! While we are always thrilled to create beautiful nude or implied nude images for our clients, it is certainly not necessary! You don’t have to be naked to be sexy… in fact, we can create gorgeous, sensual, intimate images while you remain fully clothed! Sexy is an attitude, not a state of undress. Your clothing (or lack thereof) is based solely on your comfort level and you will never be pressured to take off more than you are comfortable with.
Will my photos be on your website? Can my photos be private?
We take privacy very seriously at our studio. At the end of your session you’ll be provided with a Privacy Policy agreement that says if your images can be shared and, if so, how and where they will made public. Your photos will NEVER be shared without your explicit permission, a signed Privacy Policy agreement and a signed Model Release.
Do you provide wardrobe? What should I bring to my session?
Our studio is packed with wardrobe, shoes, props and accessories that you are welcome to borrow for your shoot! While we are very proud of the range of styles and sizes we offer, we can obviously not guarantee that we’ll have something for everyone. If you’d like to borrow from our wardrobe room, please contact us ahead of time so we can plan your looks according to what we have in stock. During your pre-shoot consult we’ll talk all about what to bring, how to prepare and how you dream of being photographed. This consult, done over the phone or via email, helps us get to know one another and also gives us time to plan what you’d like to wear and what you should bring with you. We always have our girls bring their own undergarments (panties, bras, stockings) as well as their favorite lingerie, sexy shoes and maybe something belonging to their partner.
What if I’m not a size 0? Do you have experience posing curvy girls?
It is a common misconception that you must be fashion-model thin to create beautiful boudoir images but, in fact, nothing could be further from the truth! Boudoir photography showcases the true beauty of a woman, making age and dress size absolutely irrelevant! We work with girls of all shapes, sizes and ages. It is our job to showcase your unique beauty, no matter what your size. Posing is an art form and our clients benefit from our years of experience posing all different body shapes! We can highlight your best features and disguise those you might not love as much, no matter what they are.
What about editing? Do you Photoshop (edit, retouch, airbrush) your images?
We absolutely do! Editing or retouching is an important part of our workflow and our signature style. We want you to look like the cover girl of a magazine and our retouching style reflects that. Don’t worry about stretch marks, cellulite, acne, scars, bruises or other imperfections because we remove all of those during our standard retouching, which is included in the cost of your photo shoot. We can also slim body parts, fix skin indentations due to panty or bra elastic, flatten tummies, boost bums or add a bit of extra cleavage. That said, we want you to look like yourself, so we prefer not to go overboard with body reshaping. We will discuss your retouching preferences with you during your shoot so that we are on the same page as far as what you’d like retouched and what you’d prefer be left natural. Our client’s desires are of the utmost importance to us in this regard, so please don’t be afraid to discuss your concerns with us.
Is there an age requirement?
We request that only girls 18+ book boudoir or lingerie shoots with us. If you are a teen looking for a fun makeover and photo shoot experience we suggest that you request a fashion, stylized or fully clothed pinup session. A parent or guardian must be present for the duration of your shoot.
Am I too old for boudoir?
No. We cater to clients of all ages and there is no such thing as being “too old” to have beautiful, sensual, timeless images of yourself!
Can I bring my pet? I see that you have pinups of your clients and their pets.
YES! We love animals… big, small and in between. Beth was a pre-vet major in college and grew up on a horse farm so she loves when clients want to bring their pets! We’ve had snakes, spiders, cats, dogs, rabbits, chickens and more in the studio and we’ve worked outside with horses and large animals. If you’d like to bring your pet to the studio please contact us to discuss your ideas ahead of time. Big dogs generally need a handler and must be brought at the end of your session since they don’t usually appreciate having to sit through hair and makeup with you, lol! Also, please be mindful that, in a studio environment, we must ask that dogs be obedience trained and well-behaved. Cords, lights and flooring can be dangerous to an overly enthusiastic dog.
