What Are Your 3 Words?

One of the things I love most about women is that we are all different! I mean, that statement sounds painfully obvious but it is so true! Every single woman who walks into my studio is an individual with her own style. I can tell a lot about a girl just by what she pulls out of her bag when she arrives… is it soft, feminine and romantic or bold, sexy and in-your-face? Does she pull out lace robes in ivory and blush pink or does she lay out strappy black teddies and killer stilettos on the bed? During your consultation we always talk about how you want to be photographed, what your dream photos would look like and what your own personal style is. I love to have my clients give me three words that they think best describes them. I love all of the words I hear… glamorous, sexy, timeless, classic, beautiful, elegant, feminine, edgy, fashion-forward, retro, vintage, classy, romantic, erotic, soft, sensual… and so many more!

Imagine holding your beautiful photographs in your hands right now. Imagine that your photo shoot is over. You’ve already come in and been pampered, had your hair and makeup done, rolled around on the bed and made doe eyes at the camera and had your hair blown supermodel-style by the fan. The whole day was about YOU and you left the studio feeling confident and AMAZING! Now… use THREE WORDS to describe the photographs in your hands…

An Interview with Ashley

When I first met Ashley she was so bright eyed and enthusiastic it was impossible not to fall in love with her! She is a little fireball and I don’t think she even took a single breath while she described her whole dream shoot to me! The minute I heard “Rock Star” I got REALLY excited because I’d had the exact same idea in my head for a while and just hadn’t had the opportunity to make it happen! She gave me a starting point and I totally ran with it… right down the a fog machine and awesome pink and blue stage lights! Of course, we wanted to give her some other looks, too, so we included some classic boudoir (with an outfit to match her tattoos!), some sexy glamour and even some fun soccer pinups! When it was time to break out the amp and fog machines she was all warmed up and ready to rock! Ashley, you KILLED it and you looked absolutely amazing!!! Thanks for sharing!!

LHI: What initially made you decide to book a boudoir shoot?

Ashley: I decided to book a photoshoot for two reasons: 1 : I have always wanted to feel sexy. To have my hair and makeup done. To feel like a model. 2: my wonderful husband heard me talking about wanting to do a shoot and bought me a gift certificate for Christmas.

LHI: What was your biggest fear before you booked your shoot? Did it come true and, if not, what happened instead?

Ashley: My biggest fear before the photoshoot was not knowing how comfortable I would feel trying to be sexy in front of the camera. My fear did not come true at all. Beth helped me get comfortable and helped me pose in positions where I felt sexy and strong.

LHI: What was your favorite part of your photo shoot?

Ashley: My absolute favorite part of the photoshoot was every part! The makeup! The hair! The transformation of me, mom and wife, to a sexy woman. Beth took my ideas and made them look even better than I could have ever envisioned.

LHI: Why should women treat themselves to this experience?

Ashley: I think every woman should treat themselves to this experience. It’s empowering as a woman to be made so sexy and beautiful. The entire experience made me feel so special and a strong independent woman. It builds self esteem and truly empowers women with this incredible feeling of strength.

LHI: If you were going to tell your best friend about your experience with Lost Highway Imaging, what would you tell her?

Ashley: I have told everyone about my experience. That the whole experience is fun, sexy, creative, and you can “make yourself” into anyone you have ever desired to be. It’s like adult dress up and every woman can relate to the fantasy. You get to love this fantasy an transform yourself into anything you want. Beth makes you so comfortable from start to finish and I had such an amazing experience. Now I’m addicted and want to again!!!

An Interview with Sarah

We recently welcomed Sarah into our studio for her very first boudoir photo shoot! Sarah is a fellow redhead with piercing blue eyes and a smile that lights up a room! Her sense of humor is right up my alley and the dirty jokes and girl talk had us laughing during her entire session! Her tears of joy at her reveal appointment made me cry, too! Sarah, it was such an honor to be your photographer! You are an amazing, gorgeous woman and I’m so proud to have helped you find that inner confidence that just needed a little coaxing to come out and shine!

LHI: What initially made you decide to book a boudoir shoot?

Sarah: I booked the shoot after deciding I wanted to do something different for my fiancé for christmas. I figured that it would be fun and would really surprise him as I have been working soo hard all year to lose weight, plus I’m not the girl who enjoys having her photo taken.

LHI: What was your biggest fear before you booked your shoot? Did it come true and, if not, what happened instead?

Sarah: My biggest fear was not being able to be sexy. I didn’t know how it would turn out or if I had anything that would be sexy. I am your average 28 year old who has no lingerie and my underwear do NOT match my bra. LOL. It took me stepping out of my norm and thinking sexy to finally figure out what I wanted to do. After a sit down with Beth and going over things she suggested, I was able to find all the outfits for my shoot. My other fear was looking frumpy (I have a terrible self esteem issue). All of my fears were wrong. My photos came out perfect… beyond perfect… and it was soo easy and free spirited. Nothing weird, just a couple of girls playing dress up and having fun.

LHI: What was your favorite part of your photo shoot?

Sarah: My favorite part of the photo shoot was working with Beth. She made me feel like an old friend and we just laughed and had fun. There was no stuffy-ness about it. I was worried about not being able to pose correctly or show the right facial poses as I have never modeled or had professional photos done. She was able to walk me through it all and take a down home girl and turn her into something amazing!

LHI: Why should women treat themselves to this experience?

Sarah: I think every women should give this a shot. Its a freeing experience and you are able to just let yourself go and have fun. The end product is worth the little freak out that I know I had. I was in tears when I saw my photos. They are amazing. Every women should be able to feel like a super star. Even if its just for them and no one else. My self esteem went through the roof after this shoot. I have so much more confidence now in how I carry myself.

LHI: If you were going to tell your best friend about your experience with Lost Highway Imaging, what would you tell her?

Sarah: I have already told my best friend about this and she was one of the first people to see the photos. I told her that she NEEDED to give it a try. You can be sexy and not raunchy (which I found some people think this is) You can let yourself over to the camera and just finally be yourself! These aren’t just photos… This session that you sign up for is a work of art. You are FINALLY the muse that every women wants to be!

Check out Sarah’s photos from her shoot… she’s GORGEOUS!! Hair and makeup by me (yes, I do makeovers for many of the ladies that comet us!) See her before and after photo in our Transformation Gallery.

Fashion Fridays – Antique Elegance

I’m introducing a new series on the blog, totally focused on the eternal question… what to wear! Choosing your wardrobe for your boudoir photo shoot at our studio might feel a little intimidating but it doesn’t need to! Our recent acceptance into the International Association of Boudoir Photographers has been a huge honor in many ways and it has also been a enormous benefit for us! Not only do they support and provide a network for professional boudoir photographers all over the globe, they also provide us with benefits like beautiful, custom Polyvore style boards! As a girl, I love following style trends… particularly in lingerie and shoes, lol! My career choice has made that love more than just a hobby, it is a necessity! I love being able to provide my clients with style advice that is chic, modern and camera-ready! The girls at AIBP know better than most which outfits will just shine on camera and these style boards showcase that knowledge perfectly!

Antique style is hot right now, both on the runways and on the racks of your local shops and boutiques. It tends to showcase muted hues of ivory, lavender, robin’s egg blue, aqua, petal pink and mint. Look for elegant lace, soft satin, delicate textures and vintage details. This style looks amazing paired with pearls and simple nude shoes. Don’t overlook those finishing details, such as floral hairpieces, a little bit of sparkle or delicate trims.

There are so many options and price points available that you are certain to find something you love that not only flatters your body type, but suits your budget as well! These style boards showcase a range of price points, from budget-conscious to absolute luxurious indulgence! The best part of Polyvore is that if you fall in love with something, you can often find a link right on the board that will lead you to the site where it is available! If you are looking to shop local, Forever 21, H&M and Charlotte Russe have TONS of vintage and antique looks in their stores right now. They are budget friendly and photograph beautifully! If you are looking for something a bit more indulgent then peruse the selection at Victoria’s Secret and La Perla. If absolute luxury is your desire then take a peek at Agent Provocateur.

If you have questions about fit, the best styles for your figure or any other questions about wardrobe choices for your shoot you know where to find me! I’ll walk you through every step of the process so don’t hesitate to ask! Click on the board below to be taken directly to Polyvore, where all of the pieces on the board are listed individually with prices and locations.
